The origins of a story
Astrid Anna Emilia Ericsson was born on 14 November 1907 here on Näs farm, the second of four siblings. It was her and her siblings who, together with the cowman’s children and the children from the Rectory next door, were the real life children of Noisy Village. The story of their games has now spread all over the world.

Visit Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home
Take a guided tour and step back in time to when Astrid grew up here with her three siblings, her parents and many others who worked on the farm. The house looks exactly as it did when Astrid was a little girl. She restored it herself in the 1960s.
See the exhibition about Astrid Lindgren
At the beginning of the 20th century, a little girl hears the first fairy tale of her life. It set her little childhood soul rocking and it never really stops. The girl’s name is Astrid, and she will grow up to become Sweden’s greatest children’s author. In the exhibition ‘Astrid Lindgren and the power of stories’ you can get to know the little girl growing up on Näs farm and follow her throughout her life.

Walk in the gardens
Our narrative gardens consist of different areas, each with a special theme that is in some way linked to Astrid Lindgren and her writing. Here, leafy rooms and beds of moss are combined with playful sculptures and nettle pastures – all of which carry the scent of the Småland nature that was so close to Astrid Lindgren’s heart.
