Matt, You Beast!

Spring has returned to the forest, but in the stronghold of Mattis, emotions rage like a storm. The conflict between the Mattis clan and the Borka clan is reaching its peak – even though Ronja and Birk, the children of rival chieftains, have formed a deep friendship.

In secret, Ronja saves the starving Borka clan by bringing them food. When she meets Birk again in the forest, there is hope for something beyond old feuds. But the peace is short-lived. Birk is captured by the Mattis robbers, and Ronja, furious and heartbroken, confronts her father.

In a moment of defiance and courage, she leaps across Hell’s Gap – away from her father, away from everything she’s known – to stand beside Birk and even the odds.

And that is when something breaks in Mattis. His voice trembling with pain, he utters the words that echo through the ancient halls:
“I have no child.”
